R Dean Johnson grew up in Southern California, where everyone still calls him Rob, Bobby, or Bob. Which he likes. He lives in Kentucky with his wife, the writer Julie Hensley, their two children, three cats, a hermit crab, a dog, and seven urban chickens. A Professor at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), he directs and teaches in EKU’s low residency MFA in creative writing program, Bluegrass Writers Studio. He is the author of a story collection, Delicate Men (2014), a creative nonfiction chapbook, Something L.A. (2015), and a novel, Californium (2016). His essays and stories have appeared in several national literary journals, including Ascent, Cimarron Review, Evening Street Review, Louisville Review, Natural Bridge, New Orleans Review, Ruminate, Salt Hill, Santa Clara Review, Slice, and The Southern Review. He holds an MA in English from Kansas State University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Arizona State University. (He also holds a BS in Business Administration from Cal Poly Pomona, but that’s a whole other story). In addtion to EKU, he has taught creative writing at Prescott College, Yavapai College, Cameron University, and Gotham Writers’ Workshop.

I’m not sure what I love more, that you either want to represent my novel and increase sales or that you think it’s not a novel but the actual radioactive element you’d be selling. I hope you’re shooting for the NYT Bestseller’s List and not a Homeland Security Watch List because I can help you with the former but I got nothing for you if it’s the latter.
